Are we there yet? Yes!

We have arrived. It's a pretty easy day from Tok to Palmer except for the condition of the roads. I guess the frost heaves and road work are just a way of life here. They sure can slow you down. We did arrive at Martin's house by 5:00 though. If you have or saw this years calendar then you know there is a picture of 2 swans on a pond. Well these are the same 2 swans plus 4. Same pond, bigger family now.
There's a couple of shots of a glacier and some fireweed. The fireweed is prolific this year! And Connie spotted this eagle but he was quite a ways off the road. We haven't seen as much game this year so far. The next few days will be busy with the wedding and there probably won't be any more scenery pictures so don't be surprised if there is not a blog every day. I don't know if I will be able to post all of the wedding pictures on my site while I am here but I will certainly put a few on the blog.

North to Alaska

Last night we stayed in Whitehorse as I mentioned before. The only significant thing about this first picture of our campsite is that it was taken at 10:03 last night and the sun was just setting. The others are just some scenery from today. I saw a few better shots today but I either couldn't stop in time or there was no place to pull over. Today was the day of bad road. The stretch between Whitehorse and the US border is almost continuous frost heaves. Slow going especially with a trailer. I guess it is hot everywhere but would you believe we had it as high as 84 today! That is hot for this neck of the woods. We have been seeing the 80s everyday of the trip so far and not one drop of rain. Tonight we are in Tok, Alaska and tomorrow it's a short day to my cousin Martin's house.

Loons and Bears

Sunday night found us at Muncho Lake again. We stayed in almost the exact same spot last year on the way home. Dave, knowing our fondness for loons, gave us this nice wooden loon. Now that we have it, you may spot a loon in some of the pictures as we travel, even if we don't find the real thing. Kind of like the Travelocity gnome. Today we made it to Whitehorse. The only pictures we took were of this cinnamon bear that was feeding beside the road. Tomorrow we plan to drive to Tok Alaska and will hopefully have a connection, so stay tuned in.

I'm Back

Well we didn't have a connection last night or the night before so I'll do 2 posts tonight. Saturday morning Dave took me flying in his plane. We flew out to Shiloh and it hasn't changed much from last summer so I only put in one shot of it. The other aerial is a canola field near FSJ. When we got back I took the trailer out to Bill and Sandra's property and a bunch of us spent the afternoon helping prepare for the wedding. Connie and I spent the night there before heading north on Sunday morning.

2 days in Fort St. John

Well we got to FSJ yesterday about 6:00. Last night we went out the the property with Bill and Sandra to water. It is just beautiful, and I will have more and better pictures of it later. Just wait till you see the gate! I spent most of today working on the trailer. I had trouble with the trailer brakes and in the process of working on them I discover some worn I spring hangers which I replaced. This was actually a good place to do it because Northern Spring here in town had all the parts in stock. Connie had appointments at the Hair Bin today and she is even more beautiful now! Tonight is a birthday dinner for Luke at Dave and Cheryl's. Tomorrow it's off to work at the property and Sunday we head North again. A - As you may have noticed, I have had very little time for blogging so far. Maybe I will have a few more pictures of the property for you tomorrow night if I find time to get them up.

Here we are again

How do you get from picture 1 to picture 2 in less than to weeks? Drive a lot! That's what we're doing and picture 3 shows us at McLeese Lake B.C. where we spent last night. We left Phoenix last Thursday and today we will be in Fort St. John. Were going from Paradise to FSJ in 3 days which is not the norm for us. Obviously because of our shorter overnight times the blog is running a little behind. We need to be in Alaska at my cousin Martin's house by Friday for the wedding rehearsal. Also, Internet access as well as phone service is spotty as we go further North so I may not be able to post some days. I'll do the best I can.

For those of you interested in checking our location via satellite here is the SPOT web address:
