No Flowers Harmed

Since my visit to Table Mountain last week we have had about 5' of rain and a violent hail storm that reeked havoc on the flowers in our yard. But what about the flowers on the mountain?

Yesterday was a lull between storms so I went to find out. To my surprise, no flowers were harmed in the making of that storm.

As a mater of fact, some new flowers have come up in the mean time.

It was a bit overcast to get some of the shots I wanted but others were actually better.

I though the water falls would be a little fuller after all of the rain the day before, but not so much.

I beat the rain to Table Mountain

Tomorrow we are supposed to get lot of rain an it could rain for a week. So I though I better get over to Table Mountain today while the weather was nice.

I would say it paid off. What do you think?

I'm not sure what it will look like after the rain, but if this is the end of it I'm going to be satisfied.

City by the Bay

Connie and I spent a couple of days visiting Heidi and Jennifer in the bay area this week. I got some snaps that seem worth adding.

Sorry for the slight distortion on this stitched photo. The bridge deck at the bottom of the photo is actually much flatter.

Connie and Jennifer are on that ferry in the bay on their way to meet Heidi. I will catch up and then dinner in the city.

The next day we spent a few hours at Cronkhite beach. I had time to do a little hiking and what a beautiful day it was.

I hiked up to the the Battery Townsley built in 1938 to defend San Francisco.

Now that's what I call a gun!

If you ever get the chance to hike up and have a look it's well worth it.

The view from up there isn't half bad either. Just behond the rock point is the mouth of the San Francisco Bay and on the far left edge of the photo you can see the Golden Gate Bridge.

Table Mountain blooms early this year.

Yesterday I made my first trek on Table Mountain this spring. It's fairly early an I wasn't expecting to find much.

I was pleasantly surprised though. You won't find scenes like this near the road, but a little walking will pay off.

Looking at my photos from previous years, I generally see lots of Poppies in April with very few in mid March.

It seems we rarely get heavy lupins until April.  Although there aren't huge quantities yet there are definitly some beautiful patches of poppies and lupins that are worth the walk.

I've never been good a predicting how it will progress from here, so I'll just keep going back until it's over. I'll keep you posted.

Here is another batch from 2013. I got so far behind I won't comment on each one until I'm current again.

Hawaii January 2013

I don't know why I never posted this. It was in my draft folder. Might as well post it now.
