We just got back from a week in Florence, OR. We were there for our friend Steve Hensley’s surprise 60th birthday party. I was a fun time with good friends but I was able to get away a couple of times for landscape photos. Here a piece of driftwood on the north jetty.
This is Heceta Head lighthouse about 10 miles north of town. I went there twice hoping of course for some nice light but you get what you get when you don’t have unlimited time.
This is a very cool old bridge over Cape creek right next to the lighthouse.
The view south towards Florence from Highway 101 on the way back from Heceta Head lighthouse.
I’d have loved to have been here when this fireweed was at its peak but even way past its prime it adds a nice splash of color to the scene.
I took 2 motorcycles with me so I could give Steve an adventure on the sand dunes. The Oregon Dunes in Florence are a great place for off road vehicles if you like sand. We also had a nice long ride down the beach.
If your not lucky enough or adventures enough to take your own vehicle into the sand you can pay for a ride on one of these giant dune buggies. I think they hold about 25 people.
