Southern Cal for New Years

We’re home now but we took a little trip to Southern  Cal for Jan’s 60th Birthday surprise party. Some of those pictures are on my FB page.

After a few days with our dear friends we spent a night on the beach near Malibu and met up with my nephew Cash.

We were not disappointed with either the sunset or the sunrise during our brief stay at the beach.

Somebody has got to do it, right?

While we were in Simi Valley on December 31 the temperature hit  80 degrees! It was near 70 even here on the beach.

No we didn’t come home via Nevada and this is not the Bonneville salt flat.

Not wanting the same old scenery I took the scenic route of highway 33 through the Las Padres National forest then on to the Carrizo Plain and Soda Lake.

One small step for me, one giant leap for mankind…   or not.

Before leaving the Carrizo Plain we discovered a place where the barb wire fence served as a snare for all the wind blown tumble weeds.

After this it was back on to I5 and not much for photo opps.
