It's 3:30 in the morning and here I sit blogging. We are supposed to leave on the Alaska journey Tuesday but on this Thursday morning I am on fire watch. Connie and Paul are sleeping, the trailer is parked in a friends yard in Oroville, our house is in an "immediate threat evacuation zone" the car is filled with valuables and there is a huge forest fire burning less than 2 miles from here. That's really no way to start a trip.
What's going to happen next? I don't know. I hope they get this fire under control in the next few days so we can catch up on our trip preparations and leave on schedule. However, that is a pretty optimistic view. The next best scenario would be that our departure is just postponed by a few days an the trip takes place as planed. I won't even get into the worst case scenario.
I will try to get Connie set up to do most of the posting and if we do get under way we plan to post pictures on a regular basis.
Bless you Tom and Connie!
