Run for the Border

On this day the main event was our border crossing. Pistols are a no no in Canada so I decided it would be best to just bring a rifle concidering all of the way out places we might be. I called before we before we left home to make sure that would be alright. No problem, fill out the form, take it to the border, pay $25. Sounds easy, right. We arrive at the border crossing just 6 miles from John and Nethels place in Creston and the officer tells us he can't handle it there and we will have to cross at Kingsgate. That will take us 50 miles out of our way. We turn around but in order to go back to the US we have to go through US customs and there is a long line. This will take another 30 minutes. Finally we arrive at Kingsgate and now I am told that I can not take the rifle into any National Parks in Canada. It happens that we are headed straight towards Banff and Jasper, National Parks. Long story short, after another 30 minutes at Kingsgate they let us go with the rifle and we arrive at John and Nathels about 2 1/2 hours late.
We could could only stay about 2 hours there but we got to see they're new place. John's daughter Marliss and her husband Ken were there and we hadn't seen Marliss for many years. Also, Garry and Terrie Reimeir came by so it was great to visit with everyone.
Now it's 4 o'clock by the time we leave. We drive all the way to Banff arrive at 10 pm on our watches but 11 pm local time. Long day!
Tom
